Step-by-step

  1. 1Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F).
  2. 2Spread fries on one tray in a single layer. Bake 10 min.
  3. 3Add fish fingers to a second tray. Put both trays in the oven.
  4. 4Bake another 12–15 min, flipping once, until fries are crispy and fish is golden.
  5. 5Serve immediately with ketchup or mayo on the side.

Adapt for a picky eater

  • ·Make it milder: skip strong spices, herbs and onions — keep salt, butter or a touch of cheese instead.
  • ·Swap an ingredient: trade anything they avoid for a safe favourite (e.g. cucumber sticks instead of cooked veg).
  • ·Keep things separate: serve the parts side by side, not mixed — sauce on the side.
